PETER BRAITHWAITE RECEIVES ORDER OF MERIT AWARD!
Last Thursday afternoon (20 March 2014), Peter Braithwaite and family were at Government House for Peter's Investiture ceremony. Peter is the worthy recipient of the OFFICERS OF THE NEW ZEALAND ORDER OF MERIT (ONZM), received for services to education.
The award citation is impressive. I quote a few paragraphs from the Press clipping - "A man who has helped hundreds of New Zealand students see the world and hundreds of overseas students visit this country has been honoured for his efforts that span more than 30 years." "... a board member of the NZ AFS Educational Trust since 2002..." "... (Peter) has been involved with volunteer training workshops in New Zealand, Malaysia and Paraguay and was the principal consultant for a NZ aid programme project which trained secondary school teachers in Bougainville from 2001 to 2004." And more!
The congratulatory letter from the Prime Minister was full of praise on Peter's efforts over the years - quote "...You have made an outstanding contribution...".
The photo above shows Peter shaking hands with LT Gen Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae, Governor-General of New Zealand.
Congratulations Peter! You'll have to show us that shiny piece of metal on your lapel. :)
Today's weather was a repeat of the last 2 days, only stronger. There were a few casualties due to the strong gusts, and hasty repairs were made between races.
Congratulations must go to Bruce Edgar who convincingly won the fleet racing.
A few more photos of today's racing.
The day started off calm enough, and gorgeously sunny if a bit nippy.
Ooops! Darn gusts!
The guys concentrating...
Those wind gusts again!
A calm moment or two...
A fairly even race start here!
Daniel's camera on the back of Bruce's boat for the last race of the regatta. Here's hoping for some great footage!
